WORKING ON FIRE ENCOURAGES FIRE
FIGHTERS TO FOLLOW THEIR TALENTS

Working
on Fire, the South African Government's initiative to
create jobs and to alleviate poverty encourages fire fighters to follow their talents to develop
skills.
The former fire fighter who promoted as the
news anchor in the internal Working on Fire TV (WoF TV), Natasha Dosantos
nominated to the top 12 of Miss Mpumalanga Beauty Pageant that will take place
in Mbombela on the 12 April 2014.
The
21 year old from KaNyamazane Township near Mbombela and Public Relations Student
at Boston College
said that 21 days training of Fire Fighting at Working on Fire Academy
has made her gain confidence and has also helped her realise that she could
achieve her dream.
“When
I joined the programme ,I thought it would be difficult but I passed the
training and even now being nominated to the top 12 does not scare me because I
am very confident”, said Dosantos.
She
said that, she grew up with a single and unemployed mother and two siblings but
the poverty has encouraged her to fulfill her dream of winning the crown of Miss
Mpumalanga.
“As
I will be competing with other girls, I will be representing those young women
from disadvantaged community,” she said.
Dosantos
encouraged young women from poor families to show the entire World that they
can do whatever they want as long they do not allow the poor background to
discourage them.
She
added that Oprah Winfrey is her role model because She has dedicated her whole
life into helping other people‘s lives, she gives her best selflessly and
doesn’t expect anything in return when she does a good cause.
Working
on Fire General Manager in Mpumalanga Martin Bolton said that the programme
will support her.
He
said that the main aim of the programme is to develop skills and alleviate
poverty.
“We
will support her and we are happy that fire fighters are show casing their
talents,”he concluded.
