AGang leader to resolve school issues
By BRIAN KAJENGO
Agang SA leader, Mamphela Ramphele, will visit the
CIDA City Campus after the ongoing protests between the students and management.
She will be addressing both parties and also listening to grievances.
The school has
been under going through a lot of financial strain and has been under business
rescue since December 2012.
The school was given until March
25, to settle their dept of approx R20 million. Management of the school
decided to increase school fees to help curb the debt, but that resulted in
students being frustrated because they would essentially have to leave the
school because they cannot pay the fees. This leads to a strike which started
last week and is still ongoing.
It’s financed through
sponsorship from businesses, corporations, philanthropic foundations and
individuals, donations take the form of scholarships, donations in kind (goods
or services supplied) or cash. The CIDA Empowerment Fund, an investment fund of
stocks and shares which generates dividends to fund scholarships for the BBA
degree, also supports CIDA.
Doctor Ramphela
expected to address the community of Mabopane and the Hlanganisa Informal
Traders Association.
