Voter education campaign continues

Voter education campaign continues

BY BRIAN KAJENGO

The Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature is rolling out voter education programme in the Province. This aimed at encouraging eligible voters who not yet registered with the IEC to register and vote during the 2014 elections.

It is important for people who registered to confirm that their names are still on the voters roll within their voting district. Through voting, people are freely participating and are involved in decision making processes, including electing the government of their own choice.

Whilst the State President His Excellency Mr JG Zuma has already announced the date for the 2014 general elections as the 7th May, until such a date gazetted, eligible voters can still visit the IEC offices and register as voters. The IEC offices located within the Local Municipalities are still open to assist people with registration.

It is against this background that the Mpumalanga Legislature is rolling out voter education programme according to the attached the schedule.

The Legislature will work with all stakeholders, including the media in encouraging the citizens, in particular the first time voters to go and register.
