Mpumalanga road infrastructure has collapsed completely

Mpumalanga road infrastructure has collapsed completely

COPE in Mpumalanga told Bvunzamutupo SADC Voice that it has noted with great concern that the roads in the province are in an extremely bad state and that the ANC led government is doing nothing to save the unaccepted situation.
“Most roads in the province have huge potholes and communities are left with no option but to put sand in the potholes with the sole intention of making sure that the roads were at least user friendly.”
“At least three vehicles lost control and got involved in road accidents along the Thulamahashe/Acornhoek road in the past three weeks as a result of the massive sand used to address the potholes.” COPE Provincial leader SIzile Ndlovu said
Sizile Ndlovu went on to say the community is doing this the provincial government and the municipalities are doing nothing at all to make sure the roads are repaired accordingly.
Ndlovu told the Bvunzamutupo SADC VOICE the pot killers (potholes) that COPE has just seen during a fact finding mission in various areas of the province including the road mentioned above, the White River/Hazyview road via Numbi as well as far away in Nkomazi and the Eastern Highveld of the province were so shocking to say the least.
“One could think they were small dams on the road and COPE believes these are some of the contributing factors to the road fatalities that the province has experienced during the festive season,” said Sizile Ndlovu.
Ndlovu warned ANC about the negligence and empty promises by the ANC led government is exactly some of the reasons that COPE believes the voters out there should think twice before voting the ANC into power again.
“We are calling on the people of the province to realize how they are suffering at the hands of the ruling party and take action. The action under the circumstances would be to vote for an alternative political party that has the interest of the community at heart. That is definitely what we are saying as COPE,” said COPE’s national organizer Sizile Ndlovu.
He said COPE would continue with the door to door elections campaign in which it would speak to the people about problems such as roads and the party would engage the relevant government structures to deal with this massive problem.
