is shocked by R1.3-million salary for the CFO in Bushbuckridge municipality

SADC VOICE REPORTER
COPE
in Mpumalanga
demands that the premier Mr. David Mabuza intervenes in the financial woes and
dramatic salary increment for the newly appointed chief financial officer in
the Bushbuckridge municipality.
“The
premier has recently been seen to be hands on, on municipalities that are
continuously obtaining disclaimers.
It
is for this reason therefore that COPE says, the premier must stop the
R1.3-million the CFO is scheduled to receive per annum in this municipality.” Sizile
Ndlovu said.
Ndlovu
says Ironically the CFO reports to the municipal manager who himself earns R1.1
– million while other officials in the same level as the CFO earn around
R870-000 per annum.
COPE
says this will bring a huge financial crisis for the municipality which is
already suffering from water crisis as we are writing this statement.
“This
means the municipality will then have to readjust the scales for the other
officials, especially the municipal manager who obviously cannot earn below the
CFO who reports to him,” He said
He
says when one looks at salaries earned by premiers and MEC’s it shows that the
municipality is even intending to compete these top executives.
Mabuza
must openly commit to specific actions to be done to stop the crisis after
crisis in the Bushbuckridge municipality.
