the dti TO SHOWCASE SOUTH AFRICAN PRODUCTS AND SERVICES AT FACIM 2014, MOZAMBIQUE

The Department of Trade and industry (the dti) will take twenty-nine (29) export-ready local companies to showcase their products and services at this year’s Feira International de Maputo (FACIM) scheduled to take place in Maputo from 25-31 August 2014.  

The FACIM is an annual flagship trade fair held in Maputo, Mozambique and attended by exhibitors and visitors from the African diaspora and the world over.  

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies says the FACIM is a platform for South African companies to demonstrate their capacity in terms of products and services.

“the dti will participate at FACIM for the third time in the form of a National Pavilion and will focus on the automotive industry, cosmetics, information communication technology (ICT), engineering services, agro processing and mining industries,” says Davies.

He adds that participation in this fair will also assist in enhancing trade relations between South Africa and Mozambique.


the dti led delegation will comprise of 19 small, medium and micro-sized enterprises, four historically disadvantaged companies and six emerging exporters.  

According to the EMIA report after participation in last year’s fair, the sales contracts concluded by the exhibitors on the South African Pavilion during the FACIM amounted to R226, 700.00. The exports concluded six months after the exhibition by the exhibitors amounted to a total of R7, 604 900.84
