Once Again Thrashes the ANC in Thaba Chweu by-election
The DA tonight won another crucial by-election in Ward 14 Thaba Chweu,
when we scored a major victory with an
overall increase from 49.23% of the vote in the May national elections to 68.2%.
The ward became vacant after Farhad Essack elected to Parliament,
and in the wake of an intensive campaign, led to the
election of Willem De Jongh to take the DA’s vision forward.
Of significance, is the DA’s growth in the Skhila community, where
the DA’s percentage of votes grew by 15.62% in the
short space of two months since the National election in May? This is
resounding proof of the inroads that the DA is making
into ANC strongholds in the province.
The DA extends its most sincere thanks to each and every voter who
came out to cast their votes today, and we humbled by
the confidence that residents have in our abilities to hold the Thaba Chweu municipality to account.
We are confident that Willem and his DA colleagues in the local
council will continue to serve the needs of Ward 14
residents, along with those of the greater Thaba Chweu municipality.
