MOZAMBICAN IN COURT FOR POSSESSION
OF RHINO HORN
A 29-year-old Mozambican man expected to
appear before the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court today facing a charge of
possession of a rhino horn.
The suspect appearance follows a sting action by police yesterday,
21 August 2014, after receive and followed information regarding a man in
possession of a rhino horn somewhere in a house at kaHoyi
Village in Tonga near Malelane. Upon arrival
at the house, police spotted two men and one fitting the description given to
them and carrying a bag.
The other man after noticing the police fled the scene however the
police managed to arrest the suspect contained in their information. Police
then searched the bag that the man was carrying and found the suspected horn.
At the time the media statement released, the suspect was still in
court waiting for his appearance.
