Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, Mduduzi Manana to launch the Decade of the Artisan programme in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga



The Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, Mr Mduduzi Manana MP, in partnership with the Deputy Minister of Basic Education, Mr Enver Surty, will launch the Mpumalanga leg of the Decade of the Artisan in Nelspruit on 8 August 2014 from 08h00-16h00.

The morning session will be an interactive dialogue wherein Deputy Minister Manana, business and social partners from the Mpumalanga community will discuss concerns and needs within the artisan development trajectory as well as pledge contributions.

Employers from both the private and public sectors will be encouraged to open workplaces for artisan students to obtain practical training. Employers will also accompany the Deputy Minister’s delegation to Ehlanzeni TVET College engineering workshops to have first-hand experience on what they can pledge to improve the workshops.

During the afternoon session, the Deputy Minister will interact with learners from nearby schools to motivate them to pursue artisanship careers and inform them of post-school education and training opportunities available to them.


The Deputy Ministers’ delegation will include the CEO of FP & M SETA, Local and District Mayors as well as the principal of Ehlanzeni TVET College.
