Departments and petitioners to appear before
the Legislature’s Committee
The Select Committee on Public Participation, Petitions and Members’
Legislative Proposals has called on provincial departments to appear before it,
to report on the progress made, regarding the petitions that were forwarded to
them (departments) upon receipt and consideration.
The committee had realised that there is a high number of petitions that
have been received by the Legislature and it would be proper that it goes down
to the affected localities to deal with the petitions on-site.
The committee will conduct its business at KwaMhlanga, where the affected
petitioners in the area have been advised to attend. This will allow them to hear on the progress made
on the issues that have been raised with the Mpumalanga Legislature. The
meeting is scheduled as follows:

Women’s
Parliament to be held at the Legislature
As August is a Women’s Month celebrating those who fought for the
liberation of women, the Speaker of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature, Mrs
Thandi Shongwe will host women from around Mpumalanga Province
where they will have an opportunity to deliberate on the issues affecting them.

Women representatives from different formations and from the three
Districts will assemble at the Legislature Chamber to discuss issues which
affect them on a daily basis. The Women’s Parliament will be celebrated under
the theme: “The Legislature empowering
women, through oversight, to improve the quality of their lives”.
