the dti APOLOGISES FOR DELAYS IN GRANTING LIQUOR LICENCES

In response to the North Gauteng High Court Judgement that there are unacceptable delays by the Department of Trade and Industry’s National Liquor Authority in granting liquor licenses, the Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies, and the Director-General, Mr Lionel October, unreservedly accept the Judgement and are apologizing to the public.

“The National Liquor Authority is a Unit within the dti and we accept that the delays are unacceptable. We will take the necessary action to remedy the situation,” says October.

He adds that he and Minister Davies remain committed to building a department which upholds the highest standards of service excellence for which the department has won a number of national and international awards.
