GREYHOUND RACING REMAINS ILLEGAL IN SOUTH AFRICA

The Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) has noted continuing media reports indicating that the dti has introduced the Bill to legalise and regulate Greyhound Racing.

DIT dismisses the allegations that Greyhound race is a South African race.

“dti would like to dismiss these untrue reports and put the matter into perspective.” Godfrey said.

Godfrey said Greyhound Racing remains illegal in South Africa and there is no Bill that has proposed by the dti. The policy framework in South Africa prohibits Greyhound Racing there is no proposal on any table to change this position.
