MINISTER DAVIES TO OPEN A PEACH ORCHARD IN ROBERTSON, WESTERN CAPE

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies will officially open the 10 hectare peach orchard in Robertson.  The orchard is 70% owned by a group of black women who have an off-take agreement with the Rhodes Food Group – currently investing in a fruit depot handling facility on the farm.

The orchard which is situated in the Constitutional road farm is part of the Public Private Partnership projects between the Department of Trade and Industry  (the dti), and the South African Fruit and Vegetables Canners Association (SAFVCA) . To date, the dti has contributed R18.1m to the PPP.
