More People killed on Mpumalanga Roads

More People killed on Mpumalanga Roads

The Democratic Alliance would like to express its sincere condolences to the families of eight people who killed when a passenger vehicle collided with a light delivery truck between Dwarsdorp and Thulamahashe early Saturday morning.

According to reports, the vehicles collided head-on along the D501 road near Thulamahashe, while on route to a funeral.  Bodies flung from the back of the light delivery truck and were scattered all over the accident scene.

The other four people, two from each vehicle, were also seriously injured and taken to hospital.

It’s alleged that one of the drivers might have been intoxicated and police are investigating a possible case of driving under the influence of alcohol. The DA deeply saddened by the continuous loss of lives on our roads.

This accident should once again act as a reminder to every motorist out there that road traffic accidents can happen anytime and anywhere.  The DA wishes to call on every road user to stay alert at all times, obey the rules of the road and always ensure that your vehicle is in a roadworthy condition.

One life lost on Mpumalanga’s roads, is one life too many.  The DA, along with the rest of Mpumalanga shares the tragic loss suffered by the bereaved, and wishes those who suffered injuries a speedy recovery.
