FOR BUSINESS ROBBERY
Embalenhle - Three men aged between 24 and 29, appeared
before the Evander Magistrate’s Court on Friday facing a charge of business robbery.
The suspects’ appearance follows police action on information
received regarding a business robbery that took place at a shop owned by a
foreign national in Embalenhle on Tuesday, 16 September 2014. During the
robbery, it alleged that three men went into the shop, pointed a firearm at the
owner and forced him to open the burglar door.
In the process, one of the suspects fired a shot and the owner
wounded on his left arm as a result. They then took undisclosed amount of cash
and fled the scene. The victim, Ali Zane Ahmed (27) taken to hospital for
medical treatment.
The police’s hard work yielded positive results as it led to the
arrest of the suspects from their various hideouts on Wednesday, 17
September2014.
During the arrest, a loaded 9mm pistol with the serial number
filled off recovered from one of the suspects and it sent for ballistic testing
to determine whether it has used in the commission of other crimes. An
additional charge of unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition added.
