Blue Light
Brigade – investigation launched
The DA welcomes the investigation launched by Provincial SAPS
Commissioner, Tulani Ntobela, into the conduct of
Colonel Simon Moyane.
The DA lodged a complaint with the Provincial Commissioner after
it emerged that Col Moyane was an occupant in the
vehicle that blocked an ambulance at an accident scene on the N4 on Wednesday.
In a video clip recorded at the scene by the community newspaper
“The Middelburg Observer”, a black Lexus is seen
forcing its way through still standing traffic, escorted by a police vehicle
with blue lights flashing and sirens blaring, in
an attempt to by-pass the accident scene. The blue light brigade is seen
meeting oncoming emergency vehicles head on,
blocking their pathway to get critically injured patients to hospital.
Following an investigation it established that Col Moyane – a
police Chaplain, stationed at the SAPS Provincial Head
Office – was the occupant of the Lexus and Brig Jansen Ngobeni was the driver
of the escorting vehicle.
In a letter to the DA yesterday, Provincial Commissioner Ntobela
confirmed that an investigation launched.
The DA would like to commend the Commissioner for the swift action
taken and express our confidence that Brigadier
Adolph, who appointed to head
the investigation, will do everything necessary to bring this perpetrator to
justice.
