Nelspruit – Thursday 11 September 2014, the Provincial
Management of the police in Mpumalanga have
expressed their concern over the violent protest that is taking place at Thubelihle Township at Kriel. The protest which
started on Sunday 07th, resulted in one traffic police vehicle to
been torched, supermarket burnt down and few shops looted in that area.
Eight (8) people had arrested and appeared before the Kriel
Magistrate’s Court facing the charge of public violence. All the suspects released

The management reminds the community that, though protestation is
allowed by the constitution of the country, they need not to infringe the
rights of others. There are a legal process that needs to be followed during
the protest and moreover, we want to remind the community that we will not
tolerate any form of violence, vandalism, xenophobic attacks and intimidation.
People should be free to participate or not to participate in a protest without
being intimidated.
Currently the area is calm and peaceful whilst additional police
