SUSPECTED SERIAL RAPIST TO APPEAR FOR BAIL APPLICATION
Masoyi on Tuesday 09 September 2014, the Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Ntobela makes it known that a 20-year-old suspected serial rapist will be appearing before the Masoyi Magistrate’s Court on 16 September 2014, for a formal bail application on a charge of rape.
During November 2013, in Masoyi near Hazyview, a 20-year-old Grade 12 learner was allegedly gang raped by the suspect and his accomplice while he was from a matric dance. The learner also robbed of her belongings including her cellphone. Since the incident occurred no one arrested and the police left no stone unturned and worked around the clock to solve the case.
During the tour of the investigation, police managed to visit the suspect at his parent’s house several times with no success, however they left a strong message for him that he can run but cannot hide. The following day, the suspect handed himself over at Masoyi police station after he heard that police were hot on his heels.
It emerged that the suspect apparently has more than one rape case which he committed with friends who are now sort by police. DNA test results still awaited to all this cases.

“We might be able to solve a number of rape cases that occurred in and around Masoyi area through the arrest of this suspect. We warn other criminals to follow suit and do what is good for them and the community by handing themselves over to the police just like this suspect has done”, said Lt Gen Ntobela
