MINISTER DAVIES TO ADDRESS MEDIA ON THE FORTHCOMING BRICS SUMMIT 

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies will address the media on the sixth BRICS Summit that will be taking place in Brazil from 14-16 July 2014: 

There will be a video link to GCIS, Tshedimosetso House, 1035 Frances Baard Street (corner Festival Street), Hatfield, and Pretoria.

The Heads of States, Ministers of Trade and industry, and businesspeople from the five BRICS countries will attend the Summit, The five countries will discuss, amongst others issues related to progress towards the establishment of the BRICS-led New Development Bank, global governance, global peace and security, the BRICS Contingent Reserve Arrangement.

South Africa is due to handover the Chairmanship of the BRICS Business Council to Brazil. The Business Council drafted an Annual Report containing engagements and activities, which be presented to the Head of States of the BRICS countries.

In addition to the Business Council engagements, the BRICS Ministers of Trade and Industry will meet to discuss strategic issues related to enhancing the trade and investment relationship amongst the BRICS countries.

Businesspeople from South Africa will participate in the BRICS Business Forum which be held on sidelines of the Summit.
