MADALA in COURT FOR STATUTORY RAPE

Embalenhle – It allege that a 62-year-old man appeared on Monday before
the Evander Magistrate’s Court near Secunda for allegedly raping a 13-year-old
girl on several occasions around April 2014.
It’s alleged that the girl was selling vegetables at Embalenhle
when she went to the suspect’s house, knocked at the door and welcomed inside.
The suspect then told the girl that he was going to fetch money to buy, however
he locked the door and forcefully raped her. He then ordered her not to tell
anyone or he will kill her.
In the other two incidents, the suspect met the victim on the road
and forcefully dragged her to his house and allegedly raped her again.
It emerged that the victim’s mother noticed a strange discharge
from her while she was applying an ointment for treating mosquito bites. She
took the victim to the local clinic for medical examination and the rape
confirmed. A case docket opened that led to the suspect nabbed on Saturday, 05
July 2014 at approximately 20:30
The suspect has remanded in custody and the case postponed to 16 July
2014, pending bail application.
