DA welcomes R40 road safety announcement The DA welcomes the announcement this morning by MEC Shongwe that a traffic light and several speed humps installed by Monday the 28th of July 2014 on the R40 where a horrible accident that claimed nine lives happened this morning. The DA passes its condolences to the families of the nine people who passed away in the accident. It reported that the driver of the taxi lost control on the intersection of the R40 and Plaston Road. The DA will continue to use every available avenue to ensure we hold the Executive to account. While we should not wait for people to die before action can taken, the DA welcomes this move by the Department of Safety, Security and Community Liaison. This traffic light and speed humps should have been installed long time ago before the loss of life happened. The carnage on our roads needs to stop now!
