MEN FOR CHANGE TO PROTECT WOMEN

MEN FOR CHANGE TO PROTECT WOMEN

By BRIAN KAJENGO

Let’s go back to our roots as Africans.

That was the aim and the mission of the Dwarsloop nears Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga.

These madalas disturbed by the behaviour of men who kill their wives, rape kids, and abuse their women.
Velly Manzini a member of EFF who is part of the Men for change club told BVUNZAMUTUPO NEWS that women are treasures to all of us.

“We must respect our women because without them again life won’t be easy. They are our best friend, so we had to be closer to them always.
“We would like to help one another as men; no matter if you face problems with women come forward so that we do counselling before any further action.
“We would like to share our problems and we are blessed because we have to share the problems. We don’t want a situation a man appears in Court for rape, assault, murder.” Velly Manzini said.

The group lets go back to our root as Africans meet on Saturdays to plan of workshops within greater Bushbuckridge area.

The elders would like to encourage young people to eat organic food and do exercises so that their help will be good.

They elders would like each and every member tested by Doctors of chronicle diseases.
“Most of the domestics violence caused by us because most of men now are not strong enough because of the food we eat. Genetic modified foods have side effects to man’s health. That is the reason why some times we find our women cheating.” Velly Manzini said.

Bushbuckridge police’s Captain Silas Tsatsi who is part of the Lets Go Back to our Roots as Africans argued men to stop violent against women.

“I am very glad that we have different people from different cultures. The Social crime has its on platform, culture, and religious leaders who could help us as well.” Captain Silas Tsatsi said.

This third book of Goodenough Mashego is one of the books people couldn’t recognize easily.

The write stresses much about the suffering of the communities in a democratic country. He pleads with mothers not to abandon their children, and he went on to advice women to tell their children whose their biological fathers are.

By mere looking at the book, you could hardly read it, but the moment you start reading it your eyes glued to the book. The book has a lot on it.
It is said don’t judge a book by its cover.

Just like Space Cookies is Goodenough’s third anthology after his poetry anthology title Journey with me, and The Taste of my Vomit.

The stanzas of the poems, leaves the reader with many questions and answers like; Goodenough stresses more on ghetto live in kasi.

If he was a drunkard I would say he wrote when he was drunk. Reading the third anthology, title Just like Space Cookies.

Goodenough Mashego plays with words advocating for the people of the community the ghetto life.
His poem titled when I am gone says it all to children whose mothers don’t tell their children the whereabouts of their father.

His work is more like that one of a Zimbabwean author, the Late Maurice Nyagumbo who wrote titled “Some of us must remain with the people”. When ever you read Goodenough Mashego's people you could easily relate with something happened yesterday.

Mashego belongs to Mapulaneng tribe which he is one of the group compiling a Mapulanga dictionary.

He said, “Mine is to give voice to the voiceless. Who would remain with communities if all of us move to towns? That is the reason I write more about the ghetto life and the findings in it.”
Goodenough Mashego is a filmmaker, writer, columnist, blogger journalist, rapper, political analyst, photographer, PR Practitioner, Publisher, literary editor, 360 degree artist, and a civil society activist.
Mashego has his own company Ten Workers Media which he runs from his home area Shatale in Bushbuckridge.
“My main aim is to expose these up coming artist from deep rural areas like Bushbuckridge.” Goodenough Mashego said.

Education MEC must address the use of corporal punishment in our schools

Education MEC must address the use of corporal punishment in our schools
 BY BRIAN KAJENGO

The DA is shocked to once again learn of teachers still using corporal punishment as a means to instil discipline in learners.

According to recent media reports a Grade 4 teacher at a Matsulu Primary school  seen beating a learner with a stick. The teacher also alleged to have threatened to beat the other learners if they did not submit their work.

The National Education Policy Act of 1996 clearly states that no person may administer corporal punishment at a school and that anyone who does this is guilty of an offence.
This incident is not the first of its kind in Mpumalanga, and following the reports of beatings in the Tonga, Emalahleni and Thembisile Hani Areas in 2012, the DA expressed its concern over the increasing levels of intolerance among teachers, and that it may develop into a trend.
We made repeated calls on MEC Mhaule to address teacher behaviour and embark on an aggressive campaign to educate teachers around corporal punishment, the South African Schools Act, as well as applying non-violent and effective methods of discipline, and to date, have yet to come across evidence of such a campaign.
MEC Mhaule must realise that corporal punishment is a reality in Mpumalanga’s schools, and acted upon. If not, it will completely spiral out of control.
Schools should foster a safe environment that encourages learning and not be a place where learners live with a constant fear of assaulted by their teachers

Crime in Lydenburg a cause for concern

Crime in Lydenburg a cause for concern
 By BRIAN KAJENGO
The DA is shocked to learn of the brutal attack on the Kruger family who resided in a security complex in Lydenburg and of the subsequent death of Ms Kruger as a result of suffocation.
The DA extends its deepest condolences to the family in this exceptionally dark period in their lives.

“We are concerned that Lydenburg could soon become a crime hotspot if the SAPS are unable to effectively provide for peoples' security needs.” Willie Venter said.

Venter says this attack perceived as an isolated case, but if attention is not given with the deployment of increased police visibility, Lydenburg could see crime escalating.

“We therefore call on SAPS and government to take this incident seriously to prevent any further such attacks taking place.”

Steve Tshwete council must investigate allegations against Speaker
Mushakabvu Kajengo
The Speaker of the Steve Tshwete municipal council, Cllr Robert Xaba  immediately be suspended, pending the outcome of a criminal investigation into allegations of theft brought against him.

DA said, “According to media reports, Cllr Xaba purchased sound equipment valued at R15 200 in October last year from a local business for an ANC function. Since then, it appears he has “disappeared” with the equipment, which was neither returned nor paid for.”
Venter told Bvunzamutupo news that this is a serious indictment against a public office bearer who holds one of the most senior positions within the council. The office of the Speaker and its incumbent must at all times be beyond reproach, and set an example to other councillors and the community at large.
“The code of conduct for councillors clearly states that a councillor must perform the functions of office in good faith, honesty and a transparent manner. A councillor must at all times act in the best interest of the municipality and in such a way that the credibility and integrity of the municipality not compromised.” Venter said

The DA believes that despite acquiring the equipment for an ANC function, the image of both the municipality and its council tarnished and that the actions of the Speaker are a clear breach of the Code of Conduct - and investigated.
“We believe that Cllr Xaba has violated the provisions of section 14 of the Code of Conduct for Municipal Councillors as contained in the Municipal Systems Act. To this end we will table the motion, calling on council to resolve to establish a special committee to investigate the Speaker’s actions. We will call for the committee to make a finding on any breaches and recommend the appropriate action. Cllr Xaba be suspended pending the outcome of this investigation.” Venter said.

Venter told Bvunzamutupo News that everything they do, councillors must embody the Constitution of this country and also uphold the Code of Conduct that governs the work they do. The DA will not allow for the actions of one person to completely undermine the ethos of an entire municipality

Mpumalanga Premier David Mabuza has received his new Smart ID Card from Home Affairs.
The process of the new Smart Card took the provincial first citizen only three days to have it

As the first citizen of Mpumalanga, Premier Mabuza afforded an opportunity by the Home Affairs Department last week to apply for his Smart ID Card first, in order to allow other members of the provincial legislature and senior citizens to follow.

Speaking to journalists outside the Nelspruit Home Affairs Offices Thursday, Premier Mabuza said receiving his smart card was an indication that the past was slowly fading away.

“The process of applying is very easy, I think people will like it,” said Mabuza.
He added that the provincial government would certainly assist the Home Affairs Department achieve its targets of issuing at least 100 000 Smart ID Cards in Mpumalanga by the end of March this year by bringing the elderly to their offices.

REF: The meaning of Bvunzamutupo

Thank you guys for the question about the meaning of bvunzamutupo. to those who had read an extract of my book published by Botsotso title PAINS OF THE WAR. It is a ritual tree at my home area which saved my life in 1977 after I failed to head the cattle to the restricted camp during the chimurenga struggle in Zimbabwe. The Restricted camped locked at 6pm. that means if the soldiers find you being outside the Camp they shoot. Bvunzamutupo literary means ask the totem when translated from Shona to English.

My book title No Room for Comfort will come soon.Thank you colleagues for giving me the opportunity to identify myself. I am a writer, a Journalist, a farmer, and a Horticulturist. South Africa is my second home.

Dr Mamphela Ramphele get criticism

Dr Mamphela Ramphele get criticism

By BRIAN KAJENGO

The announcement that Agang SA leader, Dr Mamphela Ramphele, has accepted an offer from the Democratic Alliance to be its Presidential Candidate described as a ‘game changer’ for the effect it will have on the South African political landscape.

The announcement has also raised a number of questions about the future of her political party with many commentators arguing it was a co-option of Ramphele from the party she began during 2013.

There has also been criticism that Ramphele did not consult with the structures her party has built and that staff not informed about her negotiations with the Democratic Alliance.

“We must be clear about a number of matters. At no point did we keep it a secret that we were prepared to talk to the Democratic Alliance, or indeed any other political party that had as its core the desire to move beyond the politics of division or race. Nor did we keep it a secret that we wanted to be a catalyst to realign the political landscape in this country,” says Ramphele.

Ramphele says, “It has always been the Agang SA position that the country and its future should come first and that leaders are called upon to act in the best interests of the country, no matter what their self-interest. This is a principle of leadership that the African National Congree has failed miserably to observe.”

According to Ramphele, the governing party has always been able to call upon the memory and legacy of President Nelson Mandela to hide its faults since many South Africans felt a vote against the ANC was a vote against the revered statesman.

“Things are different now. The ANC no longer can hide behind Madiba and has to stand on its own demerits. The fact is, the governing party is losing support from all quarters: the National Union of Metalworkers has deserted it, the National Union of Mineworkers and the ANC Youth League are pale shadows of their former selves, and even members of the party are either unhappy or want President Zuma to stand down,” she says.

“Taken together, we have a window of opportunity that has been presented to us which Agang SA and the Democratic Alliance has shown leadership in taking in the interest of the country and without putting their interests first. A change of the political landscape is imminent,” she says.

“All that we at Agang SA have worked for is to bring about change for the good of the country. To the thousands of volunteers and hundred of branches across the country, our staff in Johannesburg and Cape Town, I thank you for all you have done so far. Now let’s re-double our efforts to win this election,” says Ramphele.

According to Ramphele, the core principle of Agang SA has always been to put South Africa first, and to find partnerships with business, individuals and organisations that shared the value of looking with hope towards the future.

“The question of where Agang SA goes to from here as a simple answer: our work is not yet done. We still have a country to build and a partnership to cement. All our members will remain part of that building, whether in the branches or at our offices,” says Ramphele.

“I look forward to continued discussions with members and structures across the country about the huge prospect that lies ahead of us;  the opportunity that we have to remove a government that has failed the people of this country on all fronts, and replace it with the strengths that Agang SA and the Democratic Alliance together offer. I look forward to resuming the work we began a year ago, and to working with the Democratic Alliance and the technical team we have agreed to put together to iron out the details of this partnership, and ultimately to standing as the Presidential Candidate for all,” says Ramphele

DA will lodge complaint with HRC if education MEC misses deadline

DA will lodge complaint with HRC if education MEC misses deadline
MUSHAKABVU KAJENGO
The DA left no choice but to approach the Human Rights Commission (HRC) for intervention, if the Mpumalanga education department does not address the education crisis at the Coronation Secondary School in Klarinet, Emalahleni.
“hooling at this newly opened institution severely hampered since the start of the academic year two weeks ago, after the department failed to provide textbooks and other essential study materials.
“In order to keep the school going, the principal has taken it upon himself to procure textbooks from surrounding schools from which he makes copies and gives to learners. This is absolutely preposterous.” Willie Venter said.
The school has also been functioning with little or no basic services resulting in an environment that is not conducive for learning.
“I visited the school and was shocked at what I witnessed. Besides the lack of learning materials, the school has no electricity and experiences sporadic water cuts. Teachers are also under extreme pressure as the school is critically understaffed and educators must spread themselves thinly amongst the 400-plus learner body.” He said.
Its alleged that last week the DA called on MEC Reginah Mhaule to intervene and solve this crisis – a call which, until now, has fallen on deaf ears.
In view of this the DA will give the MEC until Monday to address the problem, and on her failing to do so, DA had planned to lodge a complaint with the Human Rights Commission - on the basis that the learners are being denied their rights to basic education and basic services.

PRESIDENT JACOB ZUMA SIGNS THE BROAD-BASED BLACK ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT AMENDMENT BILL 2013 INTO LAW

PRESIDENT JACOB ZUMA SIGNS THE BROAD-BASED BLACK ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT AMENDMENT BILL 2013 INTO LAW

BY BRIAN KAJENGO

President Jacob Zuma has signed into law the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) Amendment Bill 2013. The Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies says the signing of this Bill into law is significant, as this will streamline the monitoring and evaluation of empowerment.

According to Davies, the bill will significantly enhance the objectives of the B-BBEE Act No 53 of 2003.

“The amendments to the B-BBEE Act intend to achieve key strategic objectives, amongst others, to align the B-BBEE Act with other legislation impacting on B-BBEE and with the Codes; establishment of the B-BBEE Commission; provide for the regulation of the verification industry by the Independent Regulatory Board of Auditors; and deal with non-compliance and circumvention by, inter alia, introducing offences and penalties” he said.

Minister Davies stated that fronting as defined in the Act is now a statutory offence and those who are involved in fronting and convicted may be imprisoned for 10 years.
“We have introduced offences of the following acts of fronting, which include misrepresenting or attempting to misrepresent the B-BBEE status of an enterprise; and providing false information or misrepresenting information to the verification personnel in order to secure a particular B-BBEE status, among others. Yes any person convicted of an offence, in terms of the Act, is liable to a fine or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding 10 years or to both a fine and imprisonment”, added Davies.

The Minister mentioned that the other achievement of the Act is the establishment of the B-BBEE Commission, which will play a critical role in overseeing, supervising and promoting adherence with the B-BBEE Act and Codes of Good Practice, in the interest of the public.

“The B-BBEE Commission will be given the task of acting without fear or favour independently.  It will also strengthen and foster collaboration between the public and private sector in order to promote and safeguard the objectives of B-BBEE. Over and above the Commission will ensure that BEE activities in the country are aligned”, highlighted Minister Davies.

Foiled ROBBERY, TWO SUSPECTS AND A HAWKER FATALLY SHOT

Foiled ROBBERY, TWO SUSPECTS AND A HAWKER FATALLY SHOT
By bvunzamutupo reporter
Five men armed to the teeth accosted and attacked the SBV Security van at Safeway in Witbank on Tuesday 28 January 2014 at about 09:30am.
The security personnel in the van were on their official capacity at the First National Bank during the attack. It said that the vicious villains opened fire at the guards using among others AK47’s and pistols, which prompted the guards to retaliate. In the process, two suspects fatally shot and another unidentified man who described as a hawker also fatally shot.
When the police arrived, they noticed that the shot suspects who believed to be foreign nationals from Botswana and Zimbabwe respectively, both armed with 9mm pistols each.
The police are now investigating a case of attempted armed robbery, murder, attempted murder, unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition. We request the community to assist the police with information that may lead to the arrest of remaining thugs.
The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thulani Ntobela sympathises with the family of the man, the hawker, believed to be a Mozambican national.
He stressed a point that the remaining suspects poses danger to the society hence are armed with AK47’s as it is evident that they have no regard to human life. He said that the police in Mpumalanga will work closely with other provinces to stop the tracks of these heartless and hardened criminals.

ANC’s Bohlabela regional secretary accused of damning allegations

ANC’s Bohlabela regional secretary accused of damning allegations
By brian kajengo
COPE in Mpumalanga is very shocked about the damning allegations against one of Mpumalanga premier David Mabuza’s right hand man, Mandla Ndlovu, the ANC’s regional secretary for Bohlabela region.
The allegations against Ndlovu are contained in a dossier that other angry ANC leaders submitted in the form of a memorandum to the ANC’s regional offices in Bushbuckridge.
Perhaps what makes the allegations more shocking is the fact that these ANC leaders who dotted down the dossier were so fed up that they even asked if Mabuza, who is also the provincial chairperson of the ANC in Mpumalanga, was “behind what Mandla is doing or not”.
The dossier, a copy of which is attached in this mail speaks for itself and if the allegations are true, then the ANC government is really not fit to continue ruling this country, as COPE we have got a problem with that.
Comrade President Mosiuoa Lekota was speaking in a number of national radio stations today and called on South Africans to vote for a political party that is accountable, reliable and incorruptible so that corruption might be dealt a serious blow.
The allegations against Ndlovu did not just start from today, they have always been there and the ANC has always made sure they were suppressed.
It is high time that this matter needs to be thoroughly investigated because as we all know, there is no smoke without fire.
COPE’s duty is to defend the National Constitution that is why we cannot just keep quiet while there are allegations of this nature against the ANC.
It must be noted that even people of Thulamahashe where Ndlovu hails from once protested against a number of ANC leaders, including Ndlovu, after realizing that the township was deteriorating and no services were being rendered.
RDP houses in Thulamahashe are given to peers of the ANC and people from Swaziland as well as other countries which show how big the alleged corruption in the area is.
But Mandla Ndlovu dismissed all the allegations raised by marchers and declares them as members of the opposition.
“Those that marches aren’t ANC members ANC received the memorandum.” Declared mandla Ndlovu.

GOVERNMENT’s JOB-CREATION EFFORTS RECEIVED A BOOST

GOVERNMENT’s JOB-CREATION EFFORTS RECEIVED A BOOST
MUSHAKABVU KAJENGO
South Africa’s efforts of job-creation received a boost with Rayal Porcelain Roof and Floor Tile Manufacturing Company in Bronkhorstspruit, announcement of increasing tripling its workforce between 2015 and 2016.
The company’s Executive Director, Mr Yi John Zhu, made this announcement during the visit by the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Ms Elizabeth Thabethe.
Deputy Minister Elizabeth Thabethe says that the l company’s investment of more than R300 million in South Africa is a sign that government’s strategy to attract foreign direct investment is having a positive effect.
According to Thabethe the relationship with Rayal began in 2009 when the company expressed a keen interest to setup operations in South Africa.
“We assisted them to meet all the strategic requirements and the purpose of the visit was to determine how far they have advanced since the beginning. Judging by the advanced state of their operations, it is safe to say that our attractive incentive programmes and aggressive marketing of our country through trade fairs and investment missions is having a desired effect,” she said.

Thabethe added that if South Africa can attract more foreign direct investors like Rayal Porcelain Roof and Floor Tile Manufacturing, then the country will be able to see increased investment that will lead to the realisation of the goal to create more jobs.
The Executive Director of Rayal, Mr Yi John Zhu said Rayal Tile Manufacturers started production in June 2013 and currently employs over 300 people, including 230 local and 80 Chinese nationals.
“Our total investment up to now is 320 million rand, combining workshop space and production line. In the near future we intend to setup more production lines according to the market needs which can expand to 3-4 production lines, to cover different types of tile products. We produce both roof tiles and floor tiles with the current production line and are the first and only factory making 600 x 600mm Grey hardbody ceramic and porcelain floor and roof tiles in South Africa. We are currently manufacturing 11000 square meters per day and full implementation of our business model will see us increase our total workforce to between eight hundred and a thousand,” he added.
Zhu said it is with the help of all leaders that they hope to make a great success in South Africa.
Rayal implemented full production on 16th October 2013 after a series of test productions.
Thabethe said the Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) will assist the company to reach full capacity by accessing some of the incentives that are on offer at department.

“We have had fruitful discussions and have established a few areas where we can assist the company to fast track its expansion goals. We will assist them to acquire our MCEP incentive to allow them to build their own sub-station to tackle their electricity supply challenge,” she said.

The visit is a follow up to a bilateral meeting that took place last year between Deputy Minister Thabethe and Mr Yi John Zhu in Shanghai during the South African Expos in China.

Give soccer politics to soccer politicians

Give soccer politics to soccer politicians

By BRIAN KAJENGO

I am not impressed by the way SADC countries manipulate soccer, especially the two SADC countries South Africa, and Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe has gone to quarter finals through the eye of a needle.

Zimbabwe three games one goal and South Africa knocked on the group stages.
We can’t say the players are under paid. As we know there is no country which produces quality players like South Africa.
Bafana Bafana raised hope for everybody that the trophy would be for mzansi, but that was not the case.

We cant say we don’t have strikers in Bafana Bafana. We all know the most disappointed fan is our sports Minister, Fikile Mbalula.

Minister Mbalula we are with you in pain. SAFA take from me. Firing a coach is not the solution. Bafana Bafana players did get motivated and feel proud to play on the home soil surprises me. Still they betray the nation.

The problem is one our players from SADC motivated by money no matter how the coach together with the technical team try to motivate, their motivation is in vain.
We fired Pitso Mosomane, Steve Kompela, and Iguseng is a short period of time.
New blood new strength lets lean from Zambia and Nigeria.

We don’t want to familiar by being good free kick takers or mentalists all the time.

The Worriers gathered pieces when they beat Mali 2-1 which is a narrow margin. Zimbabwe is a one man band because of Mahashi. My credit goes to Kudakwashe Mahashi, to me he is the pillar of the Worriers striking force.
Thanks to Ian Gorowa and his team they did their home work very well.
We now bank our hopes on the Worriers and the entire SADC is behind you.

Can the technical teams start using young player as they are hungry for success like what Zambia and Nigeria are doing?

We need real soccer politicians to intervene. I would love to see SADC countries lifting the trophies. Do you think The Worriers would lift the trophy?
I hope everybody think so. The support is behind through the SADC region.
