ANC redeploys sex pest municipal
manager to Legislature
By BRIAN KAJENGO
Da says the ANC in Mpumalanga once again
exposed its hypocrisy when it redeployed convicted sex pest and
municipality-destroying Mr George Mthimunye as executive manager corporate
services in the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature.
“Mr Mthimunye was found guilty on
charges of sexual harassment while serving as municipal manager at the Dr JS
Moroka municipality, suspended from the Naledi Municipality in the North West
for artificially inflating tenders, and eventually suspended from the
Emalahleni municipality when it was placed under Section 139 administration in
April last year.” DA said.
DA says it is a sad day indeed for our
democratic order that a person of Mthimunye’s controversial stature given this
appointment, and the ripples felt for many years to come.
It is incontrovertible proof
that while premier Mabuza and the ANC say one thing about good governance and
acting in the interests of the people, they do the complete opposite.
There is no way that the
premier can provide any satisfactory explanation for the suitability of Mr
Mthimunye, who single-handedly oversaw the final collapse of Emalahleni, for
this legislature position.
All it shows is how a
comrade, no matter how bad he is, or how much damage he has done, can simply be
redeployed after spending almost a year on suspension, without any
consequences.
The provincial legislature must be beyond
reproach as an institution of accountability and oversight, and the ANC must
not turn it into a dumping ground for failed officials.
