MUNICIPAL
MANAGER ARRESTED FOR ALLEGATIONS OF FRAUD AND CORRUPTION
Nelspruit –Thursday 16 January 2015, the municipal manager of
the Mbombela Local Municipality Mr Noko Michael Senaego 40-years-old, arrested
for allegations of fraud and corruption.
His arrest stems from a recruitment process for Law Enforcement
officials that allegedly went wrong. According to statements presented by
complainants, Senaego did not follow due processes when employing those
officials.
The accusations spiral from panel members who complained that Senaego
did, not consider some of the candidates recommended for employment,, instead
he allegedly opted to employ some officials who did not even apply or did not
make it to the short-list.
His alleged conduct led to a protest by some of the Law
Enforcement officials who reported to suspended later.
The squabble between the panel members and Senaego led to a case opened
at the Nelspruit Police Station.
After the case was registered, and the police having presented all
facts before the NPA for a decision, the court ordered that he arrested.
The suspect then charged and taken to the Nelspruit District Court
to answer for his conduct.
He was granted R2 000 bail and the case was postponed to 19
February 2015 for further investigation.
