Major General Nogwanya could not hide his expression when he got
the news that the community assisted the police to catch two suspects who were
involved in a robbery in the Embalenhle Mall on Sunday.
General Nogwanya explained that the audacious gang accosted two
Coin security guards who were collecting money from the mall at gun point and
managed to rob them of an undisclosed amount of cash and a firearm.
According to information, one guard tasked with the responsibility
of conducting the collection and the other to remain on guard at the vehicle.
While the guard was walking in the passage of the mall, he held at
gun point and robbed of four boxes of money after which the suspects later
abandoned two of the boxes after they discovered that they were empty.
In the process of the robbery, the suspects fired a shot on the
roof of the mall and their action prompted the guard which robbed of the money
boxes to run away.
General Nogwanya farther explained that the guard in the car saw
the suspects when they got into a white Audi Q5 which was at the entrance
parking. It is believed that the Q5 was a getaway vehicle.
Another vehicle, a red Toyota Avanza mounted with Gauteng registration
plate was also spotted and identified as an accomplice to the Q5.
Seeing what had happened, the guard in the vehicle gave chase to
the Q5 and it was in that moment when the community alerted the police who also
responded quickly.
The police managed to corner the Avanza and arrested two suspects
and positively linked to the suspects in the Q5 through material evidence.
The suspects, Franck Letebele Selala aged 30, and Robert Samora Ndlovu
