PARTICIPATE IN “67 MINUTES OF MANDELA DAY”
Nelspruit – The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant
General Thulani Ntobela is pleased to announce that the South African Police
Service’s Provincial Office and Police Stations in the province will be
participating in the celebration of the “67
Minutes of Mandela Day” tomorrow,
18 July 2014.
Former President Nelson Mandela who spent 27 years of his life
sacrificing for others in making the world a better place inspired the Mandela
day. In his 90th birthday
celebration the Icon said: “It
is time for new hands to lift the burdens. It is in your hands to make of our
world a better one for all”. In recognition of Mandela’s values, his
dedication to the service of humanity and the promotion of a culture of peace
throughout the world, the United Nations officially declared the 18th of July as Nelson Mandela
International Day.
In celebration of the Mandela Day, the SAPS different projects in
various area in the province.
· The Zamokuhle Disabled Care Centre at Manyeveni in Kabokweni -
cleaning, gardening, donations and manpower support in the building works that
are currently taking place there.
· KwaMhlanga Pre-School – cleaning, donation of chairs and
tables.
· Tenteleni Primary School in Kanyamazane - cleaning and planting of
trees.
· Marite Orphanage in collaboration with Ligwalagwala FM and the Ehlanzeni District Municipality
– donation of chairs, tables, toys, Television Set and promotional material.
· Tiboneleni Primary School at Daantjie Trust in Pienaar - cleaning and
tree planting.
The police stations provided nearly similar services including
donation of blankets, food parcels, painting of centres and other gifts within
their various policing areas
“We are very pleased that as members of the SAPS in the province we will
be part of the people and organisations that are trying to make a difference in
other people’s lives”, Lt Gen Ntobela said.
