MEC Shongwe tables Policy and Budget Speech

Mpumalanga Community Safety, Security and Liaison, MEC Vusi Shongwe will table the Policy and Budget Speech for the financial year 2014/2015.The MEC is expected to reflect on the success and challenges of the previous financial year and table plans for the current financial year.

During the  State of the Province Address Premier DD Mabuza highlighted the importance of implementing programmes aimed at supporting victims of crime particularly women and children. In line with the Premier’s call, the MEC is expected to announce the department’s plan to employment 130 volunteers to assist victims of crime at facilities that are located at all police stations across the province.

Shongwe will further highlight on the initiatives aimed at dealing with the challenges posed by liquor trading outlets which are closer to schools. The MEC will also give progress made with regard to the establishment of the Mpumalanga Traffic Training College at Mkhuhlu in Bushbuckridge.
