MEC NHLENGETHWA SOWED A SEED OF RECONCILIATION WITH
VARIOUS MBOMBELA TAXI ASSOCIATIONS BY PATCHING POTHOLES IN HONOR OF MANDELA

The Mbombela Taxi
Associations set aside their differences in honour of the late global icon,
Nelson Mandela, as they joined forces with the MEC for Public Works, Roads and
Transport Dumisile Nhlengethwa in patching potholes and cleaning the taxi
ranks.
The Mbombela Taxi rank turned
a battle of fire recently of which so of the Taxis operate from the Rank.
This also causes the
Bushbuckridge Taxi from to travel through Graskop and Sabie instead of using
R40.
The operators switched from
their daily taxi operation into the overalls today the 21st of July
2014, as they sowed the seed of reconciliation as was advocated by Mandela.
MEC Dumisile Nhlengethwa was
full of praise for the taxi associations.
“It is very encouraging to
see everybody including all the taxi association working together in peace in
celebrating Mandela Day. This is what the former state president fought for and
as a department we will continue to promote unity within the taxi industry,”
she adds.
The department is rolling out
a programme for the entire month, where the MEC together with Executive Mayors
from various district municipalities patch potholes, grading roads, cutting
grasses and donating food parcel and renovating community centres.
On the 17th of
July 2014 the MEC was at Breyten patching on the P26/4 road between Ermelo and
Breyten. The following day on the 18th July 2014 at Emakhazeni
municipality, she proceeded to join the Premier of the Province, David Mabuza,
as she was cutting grasses, grading the roads and patching the potholes.
