MKHATSHWA INAUGURATED
Chief Sokalezwe Mkhatshwa of Mhlaba Traditional
Council has been inaugurated officially during a function which took place at
Magogeni in the Nkomazi
Municipality on Saturday.
The function was attended by the local community
and several dignitaries amongst them, Chairperson of the Mpumalanga House of
Traditional Leaders, Kgoshi Mathibela Mokoena, his deputy, Inkhosi Sandile
Ngomane, Executive members of the house and traditional leaders from Mpumalanga
and Nkomazi Executive Mayor, Cllr Thulisile Khoza.
During the function, Kgoshi Mokoena handed over
a certificate of recognition to Chief Mkhatshwa. He further read a message of
support on behalf of MEC for Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs
(COGTA) in Mpumalanga ,
Hon. Refilwe Mtshweni who could not attend due to other commitments.
Kgosi Mokoena commended Mpumalanga
Premier, Hon. David Mabuza for his efforts to restore the dignity of
traditional leaders.
Mokoena referred to the establishment of the
Committee on Disputes and Claims on Traditional leadership aimed at investigating
cases of claims and disputes.
The committee has so far finalized
112 claims and is dealing with 50 outstanding cases which must be concluded by
December 2015.
