104 YEAR OLD GRANNY TO BENEFIT A NEW FROM
THE LEGISLATURE
By BRIAN KAJENGO
A 104
year old granny from Elandshoek near Schagen will be the latest beneficiary of
the brand new house through the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature petitions
process. Granny Nostinah Khoza, who will be turning 104 in July, will receive
her new house this coming Saturday.
Khoza
has been staying alone in a dilapidated mud-house and has experienced several
break-ins especially after pension pay-outs days. She was no longer enjoying
her grant because it continuously stolen. This led Susan Mlotshwa, a
constituency administrator in Elandshoek to send a petition to the legislature
explaining the plight of gogo Khoza.
Upon
receipt of her petition, the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature, partnered with
the Department of Human Settlement, and the Department of Social Services, to
build her a four roomed house.
The
Department of Social Services ensured that the house is fully furnished. Gogo
Khoza’s life is now set to improve for better.
The official
handover will be on Saturday 21 June 2014 at Elandshoek.
MEC’s from the two departments expected to
be in attendance as well as the Speaker of the Mpumalanga Provincial
Legislature.
Anyone can petition the legislature on
matters affecting service delivery.
The
attendance of this event by media representatives for subsequent coverage will
be highly appreciated.
