RESERVE CONSTABLE
APPEARS FOR ALLEGED UNLAWFUL BEHAVIOUR
EMBALENHLE – A 36-year-old
reserve constable expected to make a brief appearance before the Secunda
Magistrate’s Court for alleged possession of suspected stolen property and
defeating the ends of justice on 4 March 2015.
The appearance of the suspect flew from
an incident in which two suspects were apprehended for a house breaking
accusation. In that particular house breaking incident which occurred in
Embalenhle, several household items were stolen including a laptop and a
microwave oven. The hard working police at Embalenhle managed to recover some
of the items through the assistance of the benevolent community.
It then surfaced that two items were
still missing, a laptop and the microwave oven. Further scrutiny revealed that
the microwave oven had actual fact been found but it was not the one which was
stolen from the complainant.
The two suspects were quick to mention
to the police that a certain police official took the laptop and also swapped
his microwave oven with the one of the complainant.
The police did not hesitate to follow
the information. When they arrived at the house of the reserve constable, they
indeed found the two items and arrested him.
The Provincial
Commissioner, Lieutenant General (Adv) Mark Magadlela said, “as much as we
acknowledge the work done by reservists, we will also arrest those who are
rotten potatoes in our midst.”
