Five people killed in two separate accidents in Mpumalanga

Five people killed in two separate accidents in Mpumalanga
Five people died in two separate accidents that occurred in the province since yesterday. In the first incident two people, a driver and a passenger lost lives when a truck collided into the back of a sedan they were travelling in on R545 Road between Orgies and Emalahleni yesterday (18 March 2015) around 11h30. The driver of the truck escaped without injuries
In another accident three people perished when a mini-bus overturned on R40 Road between Barberton and Nelspruit.  It is believed the mini-bus’ side shaft broke leading to the driver losing control before it overturned on a ditch along the road. Eleven injured passengers were rushed to a Medi-Clinic and Robs Ferreira hospitals in Nelspruit. The accident occurred Thusday 19 March 2014 The police are investigating
Community Safety and Liaison MEC Vusi Shongwe, who visited R40 accident scene, says road crashes are a huge concern as many families are not only robbed of their loved ones but they also lose breadwinners. Many children lose their parents and this lead to families becoming dysfunctional and therefore communities must work together with government to bring an end to road carnage.
Shongwe has called on public transport owners to always ensure that their vehicles are roadworthy and that all defects are repaired as soon they have been identified. He said they should not first wait for law enforcement officials to stop them before attending defects in order to avoid unnecessary crashes
