A HAPPY TRIGGER POLICE SERGEANT
ALLEGEDLY KILLS WIFE, THEN COMMITTED SUICIDE
EMBALENHLE – On wednesday 4 March
2015, the Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General (Adv) Mark Magadlela is
condemning situations where police officials often resolve their challenges
through the barrel of a gun. The condemnation comes on the wake of a sergeant
who allegedly shot and killed his 34-year-old wife and turned the gun on
himself.
This horrific incident took place on Tuesday 3 March 2015, at Embalenhle near Secunda. Information at the
disposal of police reveals that, Sergeant Mduduzi Mlotshwa, who was stationed
at Secunda, went to his house after knocking off duty yesterday. At
approximately 22:45, the police at Embalenhle were called and informed that he
(Mlotshwa) had shot and killed his wife Nomaswazi Madlakamela then turned the
gun on himself. Both their lifeless bodies were found in their main bedroom
lying in a pool of blood.
The Provincial Commissioner is saddened
by this incident, hence his condemnation. He said that if police members found
themselves confronted with unbearable circumstances, they should consult the
Employee Health and Wellness (EHW) officials who are paid by the state.
“It is very sad to lose a
member meanwhile there are measures put in place to assist, let alone also
killing a spouse and children too. Members should consult with their commanders
who will then refer them to EHW,” the Provincial Commissioner concluded
