MOZAMBICAN WOMEN NABBED FOR POSSESSION OF COUNTERFEIT GOODS

NGODWANA – Today, 20 March 2015, the White River Flying Squad members arrested three Mozambican women aged between 32 and 36, along the N4 Highway near Ngodwana for possession of illegitimate sneakers (takkies).

The members were doing routine patrols along the N4 when they spotted and stopped a suspicious Mitsubishi Pajero with three occupants for a search. During the search, police discovered pairs of tekkies of different brands including Nike, Adidas and All Star to an estimated street value of R80 000. The suspects were then arrested and the goods seized.

They will appear before the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 23 March 2015, facing a charge of possession of counterfeit goods.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General (Adv) Meshack Nogwanya praised the members for putting an end to yet another load of illicit goods in the country. “I applaud the manner in which the diligent members acted on their suspicion, with no hesitation they stopped, searched and busted the suspects. We have since declared the N4 Highway a no-go area for criminals and this is indicative of that intention,” concluded Maj Gen Nogwanya.
