NOMSA'S LIFELESS BODY FOUND BY THE RIVER BANK
Police are looking for information that could assist
in an investigation following the recovery of a woman and infant’s bodies at
KwaMhlanga and Siyabuswa respectively.
First to be found was the body of the woman yesterday,
27 October 2014, at approximately 11:00, who had been identified as Nomoya
Phetla aged 28, which was spotted by a shepherd who was taking cattle to the
nearby river to drink water. She then noticed what looked like a woman’s body
that was lying on the ground next to the river under the bridge and alerted the
police. When police arrived at the scene, they found the body of a woman with
injuries on her face covered with a plastic.
A short search by police revealed that the woman had
been reported missing the previous day on Sunday, 26 October 2014, after she
allegedly went out jogging and never returned home.
Whilst the infant’s decomposed body, a boy estimated to be six months
old, was found under a tree next to a river at Maganagobuswa in Siyabuswa “A”
by community members who alerted the police.
No one has been
arrested in both incidents and police are investigating cases of murder. A
post-mortem will be conducted to determine the causes of death.
Police urge anyone with information to contact
Lieutenant Colonel Sibongile Vilakazi at 082 318 9651 for the KwaMhlanga case
and Warrant Officer Sindile Ntuli at 072 141 8993 for the Siyabuswa incident.
