MINISTER DAVIES TO BRIEF THE MEDIA ON THE ACHIEVEMENTS AND CHALLENGES REGARDING IMPLEMENTATION OF THE LOCAL CONTENT VERIFICATION

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies will brief the media on progress regarding the implementation of Local Content Verification.

Davies will also issue the 1st South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) Local Content Verification Certificates in the Bus Manufacturing Sector. The certificates awarded to companies that have achieved 80 percent threshold on locally manufactured component.
This would take place on  Tuesday, 18 November 2014 at  Imbizo Media Centre in Parliament, Cape Town

Minister Davies says the local content verification work forms part of government’s compliance monitoring of the Industrial Policy Action Plan (IPAP) intervention, to leverage state procurement for industrialisation.


“The economic objective of the Industrial Policy Action Plan (IPAP) intervention is for local manufacturers to receive a substantial share of government business, where sustainable order books will contribute to the development of local industries and the creation of jobs”, says Minister Davies.
