BUSINESSWOMEN TO HONOUR

for? If you are please go for it.
The Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) is
searching for innovative businesswomen who are taking advantage of technology
in order to increase the competitiveness and sustainability of their
businesses, to enter for the 2014 edition of the prestigious Technology for
Women in Business (TWIB) Awards.
According to the Head of the Gender and Women
Empowerment at the dti, Ms Nomvula Makgotlho, the TWIB Awards meant to
reward businesswomen who are making a significant impact in various sectors of
the economy through the application of technology to create a competitive edge
for their businesses.
“TWIB is one of the programmes of the dti that
plays a crucial role in supporting and promoting women entrepreneurs to utilise
technology to advance their businesses. The programme was designed to help
women entrepreneurs access the applied science and technology required to
catapult their businesses into the big league and assist them to harness
technology so that they can move from the sidelines to the mainstream of the
economy,” says Makgotlho.
“The awards are open to micro/emerging, small and
medium enterprises and co-operatives. The enterprises or co-operatives must be
owned by South African citizens, 51% owned by women, profit-making, and
existing and operating for the past three years,” adds Makgotlho.
Prizes range from Information and Communication
Technology (ICT) business solutions to hard and software products, as well as
entrepreneurial business support. Businesswomen interested in entering for the
awards have until the end of June 2014 to do so. Category and overall winners announced
at a gala dinner which hosted by the dti in Mpumalanga in October.
