SUSPECT
GUNNED DOWN, OTHER SOUGHT BY POLICE
Pienaar – A shoot-out between police and five men ensued during a
robbery on 21 May 2014, which resulted in one of the suspects being shot and
killed.
The incident occurred when police responded to a complaint
of business robbery in progress at a tuck shop in Gedlembane area in Pienaar
near Nelspruit. When the police approached the tuck shop, they came across five
men who opened fire at them and they were compelled to retaliate. As a result,
one suspect in his 20s fatally wounded and the other four managed to flee the
scene with undisclosed amount of cash, airtime vouchers and cigarettes.
A loaded 9mm pistol recovered from the deceased and it sent
for ballistic testing to determine if it had used in the commission of any
crime.

manhunt for the remaining suspects has been launched and the police urge any
person with information that could lead to their arrest to contact Captain
