MAN UP FOR TRIPLE MURDER
ELUKWATINI - A
40-year-old man is expected to appear before the Eerstehoek Magistrate’s Court
in Elukwatini tomorrow, the 09th of September 2015, for fatally
wounding three men at the Embhuleni Tribal Authority also in Elukwatini.
Information at
police disposal revealed that the three men were part of the delegates
from the community of Aarhemburg in Elukwatini, who went to Embhuleni Tribal
Authority to hand over a petition on behalf of that community. It is reported
that when they arrived at the tribal authority, they came across the suspect
whom the petition was against. The petition contained information that the
implicated man must not be appointed as a Traditional Leader.
Before they
knew it, the suspect allegedly addressed them in a very harsh way, warning them
that he hoped his name had nothing to do with their petition as he had heard
through the grapevine that the community was plotting to unfit him. They
ignored him and continued to hand over the petition to the secretary of the
Tribal Authority, however, the suspect grabbed it and tore it apart into fine
pieces.
His actions
raised emotions to the delegates and they decided to vacate the Tribal
Authority offices to the local police station for assistance in the matter. It
is alleged that the suspect started firing shots at the delegation before they
could leave the Tribal Authority premises and caused them fatal wounds
instantly. Some of the community members fled the scene and their lives were
spared to tell the tale.
The three men,
Mr Jabulani Nkosi (45), Mr David Mkhaliphi (46) and Mr Themba Nkosi (43) were
certified dead at the scene. After the incident, the suspect handed himself
over to the police with the 9mm pistol he had used in the commission of the
crime.
