POLICE OFFICIAL AND
HIS ACCOMPLICE UP FOR MURDER AND OTHER CRIMES

Nelspruit - A 28-year-old
police constable, Sandile Dlamini, together with his accomplice, Saico Mathe
(30), appeared before the Ngodwana
Periodical Court today, 03 April 2014, facing
charges of murder, possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle. Dlamini is
also facing an additional charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Their
appearance comes after police followed up on information regarding a VW Golf
that driven recklessly on the N4 road, towards Waterval Boven on Monday, 31
March 2014. A lookout for the vehicle launched and it was spotted near Waterval
Boven where the police pulled it off the road for further probe.
The
driver, Dlamini whom they found to be a police official stationed at Balfour,
was allegedly under the influence of alcohol. They also noticed blood at
the back seat of the vehicle and they were compelled to take both of them in
for questioning.
During
the questioning, the suspects confessed to allegedly shooting the lawful owner
of the vehicle and dumping his body next to the road at Elandshoek near
Ngodwana before droving off with his vehicle.
On
further investigation, police managed to discover the body of the man at the
mentioned location with a bullet wound on the head and a case of murder opened
against the duo.
Dlamini’s
official firearm which suspected to use in killing the victim been confiscated
and it will be sent for ballistic testing.
The
suspects remanded in custody and their cases postponed to next Thursday, 10
April 2014, pending bail application.
