OFFICIAL OPENING OF UNILEVER’S FIRST ICE CREAM FACTORY

OFFICIAL OPENING OF UNILEVER’S FIRST ICE CREAM FACTORY

On Tuesday, 13 October 2015, Mr Bruno Witvoet, Unilever’s Africa Cluster Executive Vice President will be joined by Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies, the British High Commissioner, Ms Judith Macgregor and Ekurhuleni Mayor, Councillor Mondli Gungubele, to officially open Unilever’s FIRST Ice Cream Factory in Africa.

With the continued support of the Department of Trade and Industry, Unilever South Africa has been able to reinvest in the country and secure its legacy in South Africa. Over the past 3 years, Unilever has invested nearly R4 billion in various factory upgrades and brand new manufacturing sites. This is testament to the company’s commitment to contribute towards growing the economy by creating jobs and producing quality products in world-class facilities.

The Lords View investment is one of many that have been supported by the Department of Trade and Industry’s 12-i Tax Allowance Incentive scheme. The 12-I Tax Allowance Incentive scheme is an incentive in place by government to support Greenfield investments (new industrial projects that utilise only new and unused manufacturing assets) and other projects that benefit the planet on a whole.

Members of the media are invited to the event:
Date:               13 October 2015
