OLD BLIND WOMAN’S HOUSE DEMOLISHED, SUSPECT APPEARED IN COURT

Bethal – on Tuesday 01 July 2015, a 42-year-old man, Trevor Friedman appeared before the Bethal Magistrate’s Court facing a charge of malicious damage to property. 

Friedman’s appearance came after he allegedly demolished a house belonging to a 71-year-old blind woman.  The house which was built by the Premier of Mpumalanga, Honourable David Mabuza, was still waiting to be roofed when it was destroyed on Thursday, 25 June 2015.

It is said that Mr Friedman went to the house situated in Halfgewoonen farm in Bethal and demolished it using a tractor without uttering a word. The residents in the farm are alleged to have questioned Mr Friedman of his actions, however he did not respond to them.

A case of malicious damage to property was registered and investigated, as a result, Mr Friedman was arrested hence his appearance.

The suspect was released on warning and the case was postponed to 08 July 2015, for further investigation
