The South Africa – France Joint Economic Committee (JEC)

Members of the media are invited to the signing of the joint communique and closing session of the SA – France JECby South Africa’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies and his French counterpart Mr. Matthias Fekl.
This will take place on Tuesday 7 April, 2015 at Committee Room 1, Ground Floor
 Parliament, Cape Town
       
         The signing of the joint communique and the closing remarks by the two Ministers will follow the deliberations of the senior officials from the two countries at the South Africa – France (JEC).

        Minister Davies says France is South Africa’s third largest trading and investment partner within the European Union.      
      
       “Total trade between South Africa and France has shown signs of recovery and increased consistently since 2010 toreach R33 billion in 2014 from R23.6 billion in 2009; a percentage increase of   about 40%,” says Minister Davies.
   
       According to Davies, the exports basket market from South Africa to France’s value-added products such as vehicles, machinery, turbo-jets and parts thereof, and aircraft parts.
      
       There will be a Q&A session with the two Ministers after the Joint Economic Committee.
