MPUMALANGA TO PROMOTE TOURISM AND ROAD SAFETY
Premier DD Mabuza and MEC
for Community Safety, Security & Liaison Mr Vusi Shongwe will promote
tourism and road safety on 04 December 2014 at Mbombela Stadium.
The theme for this year’s
road safety campaign is “When the sun
rises, we are making our roads safer” which is in line with the province’s
new pay-off line “Mpumalanga
The main purpose of the
campaign is to drastically reduce road crashes that cause injuries, loss of
life, and heavy financial burden on the state, victims and families of those
that are affected or involved. These accidents are usually caused by the
disobeying of road traffic rules and regulations, driving under the influence
of alcohol, fatigue, road rage, and others.
The campaign seeks to instill
a sense of responsibility through road safety education, visible traffic law
enforcement, operations and provision of crash information analysis. It is the
responsibility of each and every road user to know and obey the rules and
regulations of the road.
