MAN bust for stealing a truck

MAN bust for stealing a truck
Tonga - Partnerships in the fight against crime yields far better detection rate of criminal activities. White River Flying Squad together with Tracker managed to recover a truck and trailer that had robbed from the owner earlier this month in Vaal-Marina near Heidelberg, Gauteng.
Tracker vehicle patrolling along Mananga Road between Komatipoort and Mananga, noticed that the Free State province registration numbers of a white Mercedes Benz heavy truck and it’s a trailer were not the same. That raised suspicions and a Flying Squad vehicle in the vicinity worked together with the Tracker officials to stop and search the truck.
The driver, a Zimbabwean man, failed to produce a driver’s licence upon request and only produced his passport. When he questioned about the truck he did not give a satisfactory response which incited the police to investigate further.
The trucks dashboard looked like it had tampered with and the police found out that the truck and the trailer had robbed from the lawful owner earlier this month as per Vaal-Marina case number. The police confiscated the empty truck and the trailer.
The suspect was arrested and charged with possession of suspected stolen property. He appeared at the Tonga Magistrate’s Court today, 10 December 2014. His case postponed to 12 December 2014, for a formal bail application.
