THE COMPANIES TRIBUNAL TO HOST A SEMINAR ON PROMOTING ENTERPRISE
DEVELOPMENT AND ACCOUNTABLE CORPORATE CITIZENRY
Members of the media are
invited to the Companies Tribunal (Tribunal) seminar on promoting enterprise development and accountable corporate citizenry. Some of the speakers at the seminar include the Deputy
Director-General for Consumer and Corporate Regulation Division in the
dti, Ms Zodwa Ntuli:
The purpose
of the seminar is to raise
awareness about the work of the Tribunal and to consider important principles arising from the Companies Act (“the Act”), and
suggestions for statutory reform. The seminar will focus on enterprise
formation and compliance by companies with the Act, the adjudication
of company disputes in terms of the companies Act; the protection of minority
shareholders during takeovers.
Attention will also be devoted to the Tribunal’s
dispute resolution mechanism of mediation, conciliation and arbitration,
opportunities and challenges regarding exemptions to appoint social and ethics
committees.
