MAN UP FOR POSSESSION OF FIREARMS,
AMMUNITION AND EXPLOSIVES
CALCUTTA - A 32-year-old
man is expected to make his first appearance before the Bushbuckridge Magistrate’s
tomorrow facing charges of possession of unlicensed firearm, ammunition and
explosives.
The man, who was arrested yesterday
night at Mariti Trust near Hazyview, was found in possession of two AK 47 and
an R5 rifles with 18 live rounds of ammunition when police searched his room.
Other items which were seized include:

“We believe that the arrest of the
suspect might share some light in the investigation of several incidents of
crime around the Bushbuckridge Cluster. There are several criminal acts that
took place around the cluster such as a cash-in-transit robbery that took place
early this year in Mariti,” said the Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant
General (Adv) Mark Magadlela.
The police are currently
pursuing leads to determine the scope of the suspect’s involvement in other
criminal activities.
